I’m going to my little beachside apartment. I really enjoyed staying in Dhermi 3 years ago and really look forward to returning. Shopping in the store last time was humbling to say the least. Only Plain yougurt, meat- was to cut how much sausage you wanted, cheese-cut it off the block. The store has been remodeled and has lost a lot of it’s charm. I bought pasta & sauce since there’s only one restaurant open. I use to have a landscape business, so I asked the owners for some clippers and trimmed the trees and bushes around the apartments. I was sick of the sausage I bought so I fed the cats, that was a mistake as you can see in the video below.
Here’s a video of my $15 beach side apartment.
I spent 2 nights in Dhermi, the town is pretty much closed. If I had been here a month earlier, at least could have gone out to eat, it’s very quiet. I’m driving again and stopping in the little towns along the coast, visiting restaurants, tourist sites, bars and castles The car has been interesting travel compared to the bike. I can hang around town longer, knowing I have a car nearby. With the bike, you can only pedal only so fast & so far, so you can’t languish for too long with your Baklava and coffee.
Albania’s coastline length on the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea is 476 km (296 mi). There’s so much to see and do along the way. I always love following the coast and the Albanian coast is as beautiful as any in the world.
Lonely Planet has a great review of Albanian beaches
Thanks for reading.

Next: Sarande and Butrint National Park (the best tourist site I have visited in Albania)

part II VLORE TO SARANDE
I found this interesting video that drives the entire route, Vlore to Sarande in 40 minutes.
Great location and price! Did you get my email about staying with us first week of August? We’ll either be out of town or have other guests the rest of the summer. Please let us know if that works for you. Happy travels!
Hi Jeff. Just received your nice Christmas card and want to thank you for taking the time to send it. It is really good to hear from you. Is your email the same? I am sorry to hear the news you shared with us, I hope you can get things back. You mentioned our new President and I think I am still in a little shock as are many I know. Time will tell but I don’t hold my breath. Trying to stay busy doing other things.I watched the whole 40 minute video you posted, nice. I see why you like Albania. Always look forward to your posts and commentary. Take care my brother and talk to you soon. Love you, Mark
