As politicians continue ignore the Climate Crisis, we the people can still live sustainably. I’ve gone 11 years without owning a car, yet have traveled to many European countries, combing buses & trains with my bicycle.
Maister Brewery of Kamnik was hosting a music and beer festival. I had a dry 3.5 months this winter, time for a little partying. I’ve probably ridden the route 12 times ( or more?). I had a friend here last week, we rented a car and I had to use google maps to drive to Kamnik, I didn’t know the driving way.
Kamnik is a super nice town, full of good restaurants and a nice castle too. I camped at KAMP RESNIK for only 12 euro. In the summer the Olympic sized pool next door is open for only 3 or 4 euro admission.

Having been to Kamnik many times I’ve got my favorite restaurants. On top of the list is Korobač also a family run place called Gostilnica in Kavarna Pri Podkvi, nice quiet neighborhood location.

For coffee check out Caferacer Bar na Glavnem trug,, right in the town square.

It’s party time at Maister Brewery. All the employees at Maister Brewery are Super.

One of the bands was the SUPER ACTION HEROS. They dressed like Batman, Superman, Captain America & Spiderman.

The next morning, Pod Skalo across from the campground has a super buffet breakfast for 5 euro.. The bike route from Ljubljana is ALL bike path & off road. I tried several bike routing maps to post the directions, but I couldn’t make it work. So this is the Komoot link to get you from Ljubljana bus station to Damzale Lidl. The trail in the photos below is the part I can’t get the maps programs to find. The path is perfectly smooth all the way to Kamnik.

If you’re looking for a weekend get-a-way, look no further than Kamnik. Leave you car at home and make an adventure visiting the great little city of Kamnik. Climate Change is real and we all need to do our part, however big or small.
I just a a friend who is 75 years old visiting, he’s not a biker, so we rented a car. We did a one direction circle around Slovenia. He said it was the best trip ever. If you have any questions about visiting Slovenia, feel free to contact me. I’ve biked across it many times, know all the great spots.
Happy Trails
Jeff
