LITHUANIA

I took the bus from Riga to Vilnius. I reserved a spot for an assembled bike for free on Lux Express.(that’s a best deal in the EU). I spent the 3 1/2 hour ride sorting photos. Another city and doing museums in the morning, then biking in the afternoon & libations in the evening. The weather is awesome 23-26 celsius.

THE TRUTH HURTS

After 7 days of fun and adventure in Vilnius, again it’s time to ride. I’m going to visit Trakai History Museum, an island castle made of brick. It rained for just the last hour riding to camp SlÄ—nis Trakuose. I rented a room instead of camping. The photos are from the castle and the museum.

I was riding back from the Castle and stopped to investigate the sound of squealing cars. They had set up a parking lot for racing. The girl in the video raced next, I recorded it and gave it to her (calm down).

Heading further down the road I took the asphalt road instead of the Komoot recommended sand road (I learned!). Most drivers are polite and go wide around me, I feel safe. I turned off the road to go to Camping Vilkokšnis (Valley House). I had the entire campground to myself, went skinny dipping in the lake and it was awesome!

I’M NOT IN VIDEO, IT’S SAFE TO WATCH!

I didn’t want to cook, so I looked for a place to eat and recharge my e-bike. Restoranas “Vaidila” offered the best Vegan Breakfast, that I had for lunch!

THEY DUCK DOWN AND HIDE

After lunch I had a long “rest of the way” riding on a busy road. I ended up at a high end resort, HARMONY PARK to camp. When I arrived they said 30 euro. Then she asked how I got here? “by Bike”, 10 euro. This was a full on resort with tennis courts, cottages, hotel, restaurant, lake, spa & bike paths. I had the use of a super clean bathroom and kitchen.

I had 2 more days, 1 night camping and 1 night AIRBnB. I had already purchased my bus ticket to Ljubljana. The weather was calling for stormy/windy weather. I’ve had 6 weeks of adventure, 2 days more won’t change that. I canceled everything and bought a bus ticket leaving in 5 hours.

Thanks for reading. This was a tough trip to organize and prepare for. I’m not sure if it’s “old age catching up”. When I returned to Slovenia, I did a 4 day adventure to Luce, for their annual village festival. I went 7 years ago, it was better then.
