A few years ago, I was going to rent a bicycle in Izola, Slovenia, and ride to Piran. The guy told me “You know you can walk to Piran?” “You Can?” and so I did. I kept seeing plastic on the beach, found a bag, and started cleaning the beach. Someone was yelling behind me “Hey, Hey” Up runs a woman and asked if I was cleaning the beach? “yes” “I want to say thanks”, she’s nude (& super hot!). I’m thinking (“No, I want to thank you!”). Giving back has its rewards.
I don’t bike tour & camp in the winter. I still wanted to be outdoors. I watched the weather and checked the tide charts, perfect time. Public transportation is discounted on the weekends in Slovenia. I took the bus from Ljubljana to Izola round-trip for 4.50 euro.
It’s about a 5 hour hike. I left about 10:45 and low tide was at 14:00, which worked out perfect. It’s been years since I last hiked it. Kinda forgot how tough it is a times, climbing over big rocks and walking on fine gravel and sand.
HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS FROM THE DAY.

Towards the end, my 2 large bags were heavy and hard to manage over the rocks. Several people walked by me, none said: “Here let me help you.” I was actually a little surprised. One person kept passing me, stopping for a smoke, and then I would pass him. I made a little joke when passing him “my girlfriend’s a little trashy.” He just stared at me, like that’s not funny. (F-off)
I was so excited to eat at my favorite restaurant in Piran, Fritolin Pri Cantini. It’s closed until February 14, I’ve marked my calendar. So I went to the Vegan restaurant, PiranArt Vege Brunch.
So if you’re looking for something to do in the winter, with an environmental theme, here you go.
Enjoy,
Jeff
