I stayed 2 nights in a hotel in 29 Palms. I’ve camped for 4 months and have only stayed in a hotel 3 nights and 10 nights in hostels. It’s Thanksgiving and the traffic is horrible. 99% of California drivers are super polite, but it only takes one to make me feel unsafe.

I’ve been to Anza Borrego Springs desert 4 or 5 times. I finally witnessed a Big Horn Sheep walking through the campground. I hiked up Palm Canyon, an oasis in desert where a spring sustains palm trees & wildlife. Anza Borrego the town has this great 60’s feel, especially Carlees Steak House. There are lots of jeeps here, (tearing up the desert).
