Someone told me about the FLOATING CASTLE FESTIVAL when I was at the Kranj Fest last week. I was on the fence about going, but on Friday I packed up and took the bus to Sneznik Castle. Camping for only 5 euro + 20 euro for a 2 day all events pass. It’s a weekend of music, puppet shows, comedy juggling, and yep Slovenian Crafted beer. Watch out Portland & Oregon, we’re taking over.

Help! the Beatle Tribute band was playing in Kranj. Since it was biking distance, I reserved a night at the hostel (13 euro with breakfast). When I lived in Skofja Loka I had biked to Kranj maybe 20 times.
I’ve been settling in my new apartment in Ljubljana (Slovenia). All the paintings are hung, got health insurance, extended my stay so I celebrated by jumping on the train with my bike.

I had a super time here in America. The bicycle tour from Portland to Death Valley was my super dream bicycle tour. I heard “your living the dream” multiple times from the people I met. I feel lucky, at 62 that I’m healthy and have the motivation to continually seek adventure. I also did the bike tour to reaffirm my choice to move to the EU. No question about it, the EU’s social & economic values are more representative of my values.

I have so many thoughts about what I saw while biking through Oregon and California. Since high school the environment has always been a major concern (religion) to me. I was proudly recycling bottles & cans back in 1972. Back then my Dad told me it was cheaper and easier to just throw them away, as he was throwing a beer bottle into the garbage. 46 years later lots of America’s still have that attitude. The worlds resources are just for them to use once and toss into the garbage.

I’ve been to Anza Borrego Springs desert 4 or 5 times. I finally witnessed a Big Horn Sheep walking through the campground. I hiked up Palm Canyon, an oasis in desert where a spring sustains palm trees & wildlife. Anza Borrego the town has this great 60’s feel, especially Carlees Steak House.
